As the Peyton Manning saga hopefully begins to wind down a new team has jumped into the mix. The 49ers have been relatively quite during this free agent period but have come to the forefront of this media circus during this past weekend. With the signing of wide receivers Mario Manningham and Randy Moss, the 49ers look to be making a strong push to enter the Manning sweepstakes. The former #1 draft pick Michael Crabtree has been a disappointment at the wide receiver position, but the acquisition of Manning could change that. With the new reports surfacing of Alex Smith visiting teams, the likelihood that Manning is closer to joining the 49ers than any other team is high.

All that aside I’m starting to get really sick of all this Peyton Manning shit. Since I’m a Patriots fan obviously I have never been a huge Peyton Manning fan, and never will be. Just because I’m not a fan of Manning doesn’t mean that I don’t respect him. I’ve always thought of Peyton as one of the top 2 or 3 QB’s in the NFL for a long time. But things have changed. I know that the NFL is a business, and that Peyton is treating it like a business, but enough is enough. How long is he going to string along these teams for? I know it’s not his fault that the teams have an interest in signing him, but give them a break. These teams are willing to take a chance on a quarterback who has had 4 neck surgeries and hasn’t played in a year, and Peyton has the audacity to string them along like a 6th grade girl. Just calling them up, one by one, telling them that he doesn’t like them anymore. What a joke. In the end Peyton is going to sign with the team that bought him the most stuff and told him that he was going to be the best thing that ever happened to them. The sooner teams realize that Peyton Manning is nothing but a 16 year old heart breaker, the better.

I really hope that Peyton bleeds the team that signs him for every cent and then ends up sitting next year. That would be the sweetest ending to this dog and pony show. I have almost lost all respect for Peyton at this point. End this thing already before you become the next Favre.
