With all the talk about the Patriots needing a deep threat at wide receiver, and the depth of the free agent, lets take a look at the top receiver talent in the league. Making any top 10 list for the NFL is hard, with receivers being especially hard. I don’t think I’ve ever seen two that were the same, and someone who should be on the list always gets left off. I’m going to give it a shot anyway.

#1- Calvin Johnson– Big, fast, strong. They don’t call him Megatron for nothing.

#2- Andre Johnson- Big, fast, stronger. #1 and #2 are basically tied in my opinion, but Andre Johnson actually said that Calvin Johnson is the better WR.

#3- Larry Fitzgerald- Same story as the first two. Strong, athletic receiver who can go up and get the ball. If he had a good QB to get him the ball, could be higher on the list.

#4-Roddy White- Good route runner, who has speed and can catch the ball. Big play threat from anywhere on the field.

#5- Reggie Wayne- Has been a top receiver on this list for longer than anyone else, except for maybe Steve Smith. Great hands and dependability are his specialty. Didn’t hurt that he has (or had) one of the best QB’s throwing him the ball.

#6-Wes Welker- Best slot receiver in the game. Puts up big numbers in receptions and yards after the catch. No other receiver thrives more in short yardage situations.

#7-Greg Jennings- His speed matched with his route running precision and hands make Jennings a top 10 receiver. His QB isn’t bad either.

#8- Brandon Marshall- Big receiver who can go up and get the ball. Doesn’t have the surest hands, but still makes catches when it counts.

#9-Steve Smith- Most underrated receiver in the league probably due to his size as an outside receiver. Makes up for size with pure toughness and puts up solid numbers even though he’s on a horrible team.

#10-Hakeem Nicks- Best young receiver in the game. Look for him to move up the list in the coming years, especially if the Giants lose Manningham to free agency. Can go up and get the ball with the best of them.

So there it is, my list of the top 10 wide receivers in the NFL. So what do you guys think? Did I leave anyone out? Is someone too high or too low? Let me know what you think.
